Following is an outline of our
day-to-day curriculum:
Free Choice - Various areas for the
kids to play in and choose from.
Creative Art Activities - Offered
every day during free play time.
Music - Offered during circle time,
usually singing a song, occasionally playing instruments.
Problem Solving - Science activities
are planned with general weekly themes (magnets, puzzles, nature,
experiments with clay, sand, play-dough).
Gross Motor - Outside play at the
facility or at the Community Children's Park (bikes, balance beam, slide,
balls, and box outside and parachute, hula hoops, creative dance &
movement inside).
Quiet/Solitary Opportunities - Book
area and a wrtring area available.
Story Time - Every day we read one
or more books
Language Development - Writing area,
typewriter, dramatic play area, socializing throughout the day with other
children.
Social Development - Children learn
social skills throughout the day.
Emotional Development - Support,
guidance, and love from everyone in the school.
Practical Life - An area to develop
fine and gross motor skills, concentration, and coordination.
Conflict Resolution
At Little Feet we use a conflict
resolution approach called High/Scope with its six-step approach:
approach calmly, stopping any hurtful
actions or language
acknowledge feelings
gather information
restate the problem
ask for ideas for solutions and choose one
of them
give follow-up support as needed.
We use positive discipline only.
Punishment, physical or verbal, is not used as a form of discipline. At
